Many established businesses have free to join affiliate programs in order to have people like you, promote their products or services. When you join an affiliate program, you get a link with your own unique affiliate ID. Each time you send (refer) a customer to the affiliate program site, and they make a purchase, you receive a commission of between 2 percent and over 50 percent. Many of the better affiliate programs pay you commissions on all that customer's purchases for up to 12 months.

Once you refer the customer, that is your job done. You will never be concerned with product handling, storage, shipping or returns.

The two biggest affiliate networks each with several thousand free individual programs, are ClickBank.Com for electronic products (electronic- or e-Books and software) and Commission Junction  for physical products and services.

What Is Pay Per Click Advertising?

Pay per click advertising (PPC) for example, Google AdWords and Yahoo Sponsored Search (formerly Overture) is a very effective method of promoting affiliate products. In the case of Google AdWords, you don't even need your own web site, you can send visitors direct to your affiliate link.

Pay per click advertising is a type of online advertising where you pay for visitors to your site (or affiliate link) on a cost per click basis. You only pay when a web searcher actually clicks on a link and visits your web site.

Pay per click search engines allow advertisers like you, to sign up and bid on specific keywords which are relevant to your site.

The actual cost per click (CPC) starts at around 2 cents on Google AdWords, (10 cents on Yahoo Sponsored Search). The more you are willing to pay, the higher your advert will rank in the search listings, and the more visitors you will get. However, for popular keywords (e.g. "loans"), the cost per click may be several dollars to get the top position.

When done correctly, and combined with a good affiliate program you can earn several hundred dollars profit each month with very little effort on your part, apart from the initial setting up of your campaign. After you have set up a few campaigns, you will be able to set up a new one in around 60 minutes or less.
